our community

Clay Associates is a non-profit community of artists, collectors, and patrons founded in 1983. Clay Associates is committed to the advancement of ceramic arts through community involvement and education. Our Associate members manage the studio and are all active ceramicists. We currently have 110 students enrolled in wheel-throwing and handbuilding classes. We offer a year-round gallery, annual Associate and student sales, periodic workshops, and are a founding (?) sponsor of the San Diego Pottery Tour.

the associates

Our Associates are the heart of our community. They run the gamut from the founding Associates to new Associates who will move the studio into the future.

Become an Associate

Associate members are a vital and integral part of keeping Clay Associates running smoothly through volunteer roles, participation in events, upkeep of the properties, and teaching our students. Associate membership is different from typical studio membership where you pay a monthly fee to use the studio facility.

We are actively accepting new applications for Associate membership.
